Satellite Communications Engineer (m/f/d)
The Mission
We are seeking talented engineers to support us with the development, design and testing of our satellite systems. They will be joining a very motivated and highly enthusiastic team of experts in the fields of mechanical, optics, electronics, spacecraft, and software engineering.
What you’ll be doing
As Satellite Communication Engineer, you will:
Lead and grow a team of skilled communication engineers
Collaborate across engineering teams to align system capabilities with satellite and mission requirements
Design and analyze satellite communication systems:
Component selection
Link budget and data budget simulations
Testing on the ground and in orbit
Coordinate with external communication and ground station service providers
Drive the evolution of our satellite communication strategy, leveraging mission feedback, performance data, and future needs
Relevant Skills
Degree in Communication Engineering or a related field (ideally with a focus on satellite communication)
2+ years of professional experience in communication systems
Solid knowledge of link budget analysis
Hands-on experience with RF measurement tools
5+ years of total engineering experience preferred, especially in aerospace
Strong organizational and communication skills
Experience in leading a small team, upwards and downwards communication
Ability to identify and communicate design, budget, or timeline risks early and clearly
Experience using task/ticket-based project management tools (e.g., Wrike)
Familiarity with documentation and collaboration tools (e.g., Confluence, Slack)
Comfortable working in Linux/Unix environments (basic shell/SSH usage)
Fluent in English (C1 or higher)
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have):
Familiarity with communication protocols and standards such as DVB-S2, CCSDS, LTP
Understanding of ITU radio regulations and licensing processes
