Our journey & historical milestones
From a university project to a global leader in wildfire monitoring, we’ve pushed the boundaries of space-based thermal intelligence. Since 2018, we've launched cutting-edge technologies—from the Wildfire Solution platform to predictive fire modeling and an expanding satellite network—advancing real-time insights and strengthening disaster response capabilities.
2018 – Launch of OroraTech
OroraTech is founded by Thomas Grübler, Rupert Amann, Florian Mauracher and Björn Stoffers, transforming a university project into a mission to revolutionize wildfire monitoring with space-based thermal intelligence.
2023 - Growing the space-based sensor network
FOREST-2 joins OroraTech’s proprietary sensor network, improving wildfire detection, real-time monitoring, and data accuracy to enhance disaster response and risk management.
2023 – OroraTech chosen for Canada's WildFireSat mission
The Canadian Space Agency selects OroraTech and our partner Spire to develop the nation's first dedicated wildfire satellite. WildFireSat will close the "afternoon gap" in fire monitoring and protect 1/4 of the world's boreal forests.
2024 – OroraTech wins NASA JPL wildfire monitoring contract
NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory awards OroraTech and our partner Spire a contract to develop a new wildfire solution. The partnership is a leap forward for safeguarding the lands of the United States.
2025 – Opening of Denver headquarters
OroraTech commits the world's best thermal satellite network to the United States. Our Denver office opens to better serve our U.S. partners and clients.
2025 – Idaho fully adopts OroraTech's solutions
The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) partners with OroraTech to deploy our wildfire solutions statewide. Our satellites and user platform allows IDL to monitor all fires, those both remote and close to home.
